Allium christophii

My favourite allium. Though its blooms are large, they don't look like the rather densely-packed globes of some other alliums, but have an airy, light appearance. The flowerheads retain their shape and provide interest in the borders even after their early summer flowering. Allium hollandicum 'Purple Sensation' is another attractive type, slightly earlier flowering.
