A new home for Turning Earth …

I’ve moved it from www.easily.co.uk, who have hosted the site for more than a decade.
Earlier this year I spent £30 on a year’s hosting at Easily. Their servers couldn’t properly run this little blog bit I added to the site. I tried to solve the problems with it, gave up, left it as a ‘half-functioning’ kind of thing, without a comments facility. Tried again, recently, realised I couldn’t stay with them and had wasted my money. There’s still time left on the hosting I paid for, but rather than waste any more time and effort I thought I’d pay again for new hosting elsewhere. So here we are.
Quite sad in a way to be moving from Easily. I bought the domain name turning-earth.co.uk from them on 8 Jan 2001. The website it pointed to lived in my free webspace (provided with our dial-up account with Freeserve - remember them?) for about a year, and then on 8 February 2002 I bought hosting for it at Easily. So they’ve been hosting turning-earth.co.uk for ten and a half years. To be fair, they always seemed quite a good host. Just this last year or so I’ve found their support annoyingly slow and difficult to deal with, and their hosting of my little Flatpress blog even slower and even more difficult to deal with.
I’m tired of trying to sort out problems with website hosts. Had too much of it recently with other sites. So I’ve paid out again, to move on, and I’ve been uploading the site’s many pages to this new server - its new home - though I haven’t actually invited anyone round yet, still rearranging the metaphorical furniture. As far as the rest of the world goes, they’re still looking at pages served by the easily.co.uk servers. After a bit more faffing around here I’ll open the doors to the public - ie go over to Easily and change the DNS settings.
If you’re reading this, it means I have. And it should also, I hope, mean that for the first time since this website began, you’re able to leave a comment on its pages, should you wish. Well, on these ‘News’ pages at least.

Hooray, I’ve found you! You used to be a guilty pleasure of mine at work, and I’ve been retired for 18 months now. For some reason, today I thought about you and wondered: now, what was the name of that lovely garden site? Remembered it! Googled it! And here we are.
I have a new garden myself which is small and easy to manage - very different from the one I had before. So, onwards and upwards xxx

Hi Lisa , we are just in the process of acquiring a patch of land to use as an allotment, am very excited if a little daunted! Hope to grow flowers as well as fruit and veg and have part of it laid as wild flower meadow. It may not all go to plan but looking forward to giving it a go. Love your photos!
